Export GCS Machine Avoidance Zone Files (.avoid.svl)

Export avoidance zone files (avoid.svl) for GCS machines. Using this command, data for machines can be exported to compact flash data cards for use on the machine. Alternately, you can use the Compress/E-mail Field Data command to save and e-mail files to the job site as an attachment.

To export an avoidance zone file for a GCS machine:

Note: For general instructions on exporting data files, see Export Data.

  1. Select Export in Home > Data Exchange. The Export command pane displays.
  2. Click the Construction tab. The available exporters appear.
  3. Select Machine Avoidance Zone exporter in the File Formats list.
  4. Click in the Data box, and pick closed polylines or alignments that you want to include in the export from a graphic view, or click Options and choose a selection option in the list.
  5. Type a path and file name for the exported file in the File Name box, or click the Browse button to browse for a location and specify a file name.

Note: By default, the exported file is given the name of your project.

  6. If you want to export another file after this one, uncheck the Close command after export box.
  7. In the Settings group, set export properties.
  8. Click Export. The selected data is exported to the file you specified.

Lines and Alignments

Closed CAD lines, linestrings, boundaries, and alignments export as 2D lines; all elevations and vertical alignments are ignored.

All arcs and spirals are "linearized"; they are replaced by chords.

Note: GCS900, SiteVision, and AccuGrade do not support avoidance zones with arcs. If you pick lines with arcs, the arcs will be linearized.
Note: GCS900, SiteVision and AccuGrade do not support avoidance zones whose area is less than 0.001 square meters. If you select a closed line that encompass less than this area, it is ignored in the export.
