To set up a new controller

  1. Select Assign/Upgrade.

  2. Locate the device in the Hardware Variants panel.

    The fastest way to find a specific item is to click next to the Serial Number field at the top of the Hardware Variants panel and enter the serial number of the device. For more information, see To filter items. If the device is not shown, see To add a device.

  3. Click the device to select it. The device tile for the selected item shows a summary of the device, including a short description, part number, and the sales order and purchase order numbers associated with the device.
  4. To associate the device with a customer:

    1. Click the <Click here to set customer> link near the top of the Configuration panel.
    2. Enter the details for the Entitlement Administrator. Alternatively, select the Existing customer option and select the customer from the list or enter their email address. Click Assign.

      If the device has supported software maintenance assigned, a Connect Business entitlement is created for the customer. See To set up Connect Business with Software Maintenance and Trimble Protected Protection Plans.

  5. To add items to the controller:
    1. Click Add Field Software.
    2. Select the software and the sales order/purchase order number that corresponds to this order. By default, the oldest stock is selected first.
    3. Click Assign.
    4. Make sure the information in the confirmation message is correct and then click OK.
    5. To assign additional software modules, click Assign modules in the field software tile. Select the module(s) and the appropriate sales order/purchase order number and click Assign. Review your changes and click OK.
    6. To extend the software maintenance, click Assign Trimble Protection Plans in the field software tile. Select the Protection Plan(s) and the number of plans to apply and click Assign. Review your changes and click OK.

    Once you have assigned something to the device, the Reference field is available below the Customer field in the Configuration panel.

  6. To enter a comment/reference information for the device, click the <Click here to add reference> link. You can enter up to 30 characters in this field. Click OK.
