Use Sheet View
Use the Sheet View command to open a sheet view at the plan set, sheet set, or sheet level in which you can create "paper space-only objects", such as a border, title block, north arrow, or dynaview, and also review the display of model space objects, such as corridor cross-sections. The Sheet View uses sheet-based X and Y units (inches or millimeters which you can see on the Status Bar or in the Coordinates scroll) at a scale relative to the real-world scale used in model space. For information on Sheet Containers, Levels, and Inheritance, see Understanding Model Space, Paper Space, Sheets, and Plotting.
- You can select any paper space level (plan set, sheet set, sheet) from any Sheet View.
- Many commands, such as Create Text, Create Polyline, Create and Edit Linestring, Trim/Extend Lines, Delete Line Segment, Join Lines, and Copy work in both model space and paper space.
- Some commands that work in model space (Plan View), do not work in paper space, and vice versa. You can tell by the cursor that is displayed when you click the view to make it active.
- Some commands that work in paper space have certain controls that are valid only for model space. Those controls are disabled when you are working in paper space.
- Once you start using a command in either model space or paper space, the cursor is locked to that space; it cannot be used in both spaces. The cursor indicates which space is valid.
Prerequisites:
- Licensed module; See the Subscription Plans page. For a license matrix by command, see the License page in the TBC Community. Also see View and manage licensed features.
- Plan set
To access the command:
- Select Sheet View.
- Right-click a plan set or sheet set and select Sheet View.
To use a Sheet View:
- Click Refresh All at the bottom of the view to update the Sheet View and any dynaviews with any changes that have been made to your model and at other paper space levels.
- In the View list, select the paper space level you want the sheet to display.
Use the Load only sheets checkbox to limit your selection to only sheets.
- Add, delete, or edit any objects that appear at this level. The changes you make at each level appear in any sheet levels below as well.
Caution:
In any sheet view level, you can select objects from any level above it. For instance, if you place a border and title block at the sheet set level, they can be selected from any sheet. Selecting and deleting these objects from a sheet will delete them from the sheet set level and, therefore, from all other sheets in which they were shown. You may find it a best practice to use unique layers for objects created at the sheet set level. Then, you can use the Advanced View Filter Options to make those layers unselectable. To restate, when you edit or delete objects in a Sheet View, be aware of what level those objects reside in so you do not inadvertently change those objects on other sheets. - Switch between sheets using the left and right arrows
. - Use the Print button to open the Print Plan Set pane, which is automatically populated with the plan set, sheet set, and sheet.
- Click the Refresh All button again.
