Add or Remove Site Map Objects

Add a site map to your job site data to make it available on designated controllers. Site maps typically contain landmarks, site features and boundaries that can be referenced by machines and used on site controllers by crews in the field to determine their location on the site.

Note: You cannot add or remove site map objects if there is a conflict in site units. See Resolve a Conflict in Job Site Settings.

To add/remove site map objects:

  1. If you have just created or added a job site, the Job Site Manager command pane is displayed. Otherwise, select Job Site Manager in Construction Data > Controllers.

The Job Site Manager command pane displays.

  2. Click in the Site Map group. The Add/Remove Site Map Objects dialog displays.
  3. To add additional objects to the map, pick them in a graphic view or the Project Explorer, or click Options for selection options.

Note: Site map data can include points and CAD points, 2D or 3D CAD lines, linestrings, and boundaries, alignments, and CAD text. CAD blocks must be exploded before their data can be included. For details on how data exported for machines is handled, see Export GCS Machine Site Map Files.

  4. Click Add. The selected objects are added to the site map.
  5. To remove excess objects, pick them or click Options.
  6. Click Remove. The objects are removed from the map.
  7. Click OK. The site map is saved as a .dxf file for site controllers and as a .svl file for machines in the data synchronization area.
  8. To visually confirm which objects are included in the site map, click Select in the Site Map group.
