Rotate Objects

To reorient your data, turn one or more objects to a new 2D angle around a rotation point. Dependent objects, such as a surface, are updated when you rotate objects.

To rotate objects:

  1. Select Rotate Objects in CAD > Edit.

The Rotate Objects command pane displays.

  2. Check the boxes for any options you want to use in the Settings group.
    • Enable dragging - Check this if you want to rotate the objects to the new angle by moving the cursor in the Plan View.
    • Update dependent objects when dragging - Check this if you want to rotate any additional objects (based on the Rotation point) whose locations depend on the objects being rotated. For example, if you rotate a building pad that affects a surface, the surface will change also. If this box is unchecked, the dependent objects will still be rotated, but after the parent object is rotated.
  3. Click in the Objects to rotate box, and pick the objects to rotate in a graphic view or the Selection Explorer. Alternately, you can click Options and choose a selection method from the context menu.
  4. Tab to the Around box.
  5. In the view, pick a rotation point, or type a coordinate in the Around box.
  6. Pick a rotation angle in the Plan View, or type an angle in the Angle box. The rotation is clockwise.
  7. Click Apply to rotate the objects and continue rotating additional objects, or click Close.
