Create a Mass Haul Barrier
Use the Create Mass Haul Barrier command to define stations along a corridor's alignment beyond which earthen material cannot be moved. Barriers act as a location that materials cannot pass; they represent a forced balance point for all hauled material in both directions, essentially acting as 'local' start and finish points where materials must be managed through the use of borrow, waste, import and/or export to create a balance. Barriers are placed where the corridor may cross existing waterways where material cannot be hauled beyond until a bridge or structure is put in place.
Note: It is possible to circumvent a barrier if haul roads provide a route around the barrier.
Prerequisites:
- License; See the Subscription Plans page. For a license matrix by command, see the License page in the TBC Community. Also see View and manage licensed features.
- Corridor mass haul analysis
To access the command:
- Select Create Mass Haul Barrier in Corrior Mass Haul > Earthwork.
- Right-click the mass haul analysis in the Project Explorer (under the corridor name) and select Create Mass Haul Barrier from the context menu.
To create a barrier:
- In the Name box, type an identifier for the barrier, such as bridge or river, as you want it to appear in the Project Explorer and Corridor Mass Haul Report.
- In the Mass Haul Analysis list, select the name of the mass haul analysis.
- In the Station box, type the station of the barrier along the alignment or pick a point along the alignment in the Plan View.
- To allow usable material to be hauled around the barrier when there is a suitable haul road, select Yes for Can circumvent. This allows material that is in excess to be hauled around a barrier and used in another section of the alignment. There must be a haul road connecting the two sections before a barrier can be circumvented.
To force a balance point and restrict any material from being hauled past the barrier, select No for Can circumvent.
Scenarios:
If an import, export, waste, borrow or circumvent occurs at the same station as a barrier it is assumed the material is placed or removed before the barrier.
Dependencies:
- The barrier location is dependent on the corridor's station. If the corridor changes, you should confirm that the station is still correct. To update the station, edit the Station value in the Properties pane for the barrier.
- The location of haul roads will determine if the barrier can be circumvented.
