Prerequisites:
- none
To access the command:
- Select Create Rectangle in CAD > Lines.
To create a rectangle:
- In the Name box, type an identifier for the rectangle as you want it to appear in the Selection Explorer and graphic views. You can also use the name to select the rectangle in the Advanced Select command.
- Select the layer on which you want the rectangle to reside in the Layer list, or select <<New Layer>> to create a new layer for the rectangle.
- Specify the elevation to be applied to the entire rectangle in the Elevation box.
Note: If desired, click the
icon to toggle the auto-advance mode on. When the icon looks like this
, the elevation value you entered will be held and this box will be skipped when creating additional rectangles.
Tip: You can toggle the Auto-advance mode on/off by pressing [Control] + [.] (period or decimal point). - In the Corner one box, specify the upper left corner by picking a location in the Plan View, typing a coordinate, or right-clicking for COGO coordinate options.
Note: If you pick an object (e.g., a point) to specify a corner location, the elevation of that object will be ignored in favor of the elevation you previously entered.
- In the Corner two box, specify the lower right corner.
The rectangle is created; the polyline's direction is counter-clockwise.
Tip: To create a square instead of a rectangle, use relative coordinates for the second corner's coordinate (e.g., @100, @100).
Note: To rotate rectangles, use the Rotate command. - When you are done, click Close, or click Apply to create additional rectangles.
These commands are available in the command pane and by right-clicking in the graphic view.
